Marble Cleaning and Polishing Methods

Cleaning and polishing marble is one of the easiest ways to care for floor cleanliness in its various types. A little effort is enough to achieve excellent lustre and a radiant appearance for marble floors. Simply using water and a small amount of soap is sufficient, with a preference for soap specifically designed for marble.

It is not recommended to use vinegar and lemon on marble, as they react adversely, causing the appearance of pits in the marble, which tarnishes its overall appearance. If you want to use polishing agents, you can use marble polishing powder, which acts as a protective layer in addition to cleaning and polishing.

Marble Polishing Powder:

Marble polishing powder consists of oxalic acid, stearic acid, aluminium oxide, and vanilla. This powder forms a protective layer against all stains, protecting marble from exposure to hot water or any substances that may harm it. To use, spray water on the floor, then spray the marble powder. Leave it for an hour, use water and a hand brush to clean the marble floors, and achieve a shiny lustre. Dry the floor using a cotton cloth.

Using Baking Soda:

Dip a wet cloth into baking soda, then wipe marble floors with it for unmatched cleaning and polishing. Afterward, wipe the floors with warm water and dry them with a dry cotton cloth. Baking soda helps eliminate unwanted odours, provides a stunning shine to marble floors, significantly removes stains, and is known for not causing any harm to marble.

Cleaning and Polishing Marble with Starch:

Starch is one of the best and most effective means of polishing and cleaning marble. It is a guaranteed, healthy method that does not negatively affect your family’s health. Dissolve some starch in water and place it in a spray bottle. Spray the starch mist on the marble and leave it until it dries. Wash it with water and dry it with a cotton cloth.

Marble Polishing and Buffing Method:

Use a little dishwashing liquid with a little water. Add a bit of baking soda to the mixture and stir it well. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and spray it on the marble surface. Wash it with warm water and dry it with a cotton cloth to achieve a shiny marble appearance.

Marble floors are one of the best types of floors and the easiest to clean. However, if not properly cared for, they can easily lose their shine and lustre. They are also more prone to scratches and pits if mistreated. Here are several tips to keep marble floors clean and shiny:

  • Use silicone pads for chair and furniture legs, as excessive friction on marble floors can cause scratches and a dull appearance.
  • Use dishwashing liquid to polish marble, as it effectively and efficiently restores shine to marble.
  • Use baking powder and baking soda to create a dense and concentrated powder to remove tough stains on marble. It works effectively each time.
  • Avoid using lemon and vinegar on marble floors, as they can cause pits and scratches due to their interaction with marble.
